Last night’s episode of ABC’s The Bachelorette featured Madison’s own Peter Kraus. In case you’re interested in re-creating his hometown date with Rachel Lindsay, here is what you should do.
Meet your date at the Monona Terrace.
As Peter and Rachel meet in Madison, he picks her up (literally) at the Monona Terrace. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, it is a perfect spot to take in a view of the Capitol or Lake Monona. While the couple did not explore the building or celebrate its 20th year, it is a great spot to enjoy a meal at Lake Vista Café or mourn the death of Otis Redding.
Walk down State Street.
Bypass the Capitol entirely and take a stroll down State Street to see the vendors on the 100 block selling their wares Saturday morning. The Madison Museum of Contemporary Art makes a slight appearance in the episode, but because Rachel and Peter do not explore the collection, a passing glance at the glass structure is all that is needed.
Take a lap at the Dane County Farmers’ Market.
Peter held a bouquet of fresh flowers in his hand as he walked next to Rachel perusing the food at the Dane County Farmers’ Market. While we do not know if the couple went there at the right time, we did see that they enjoyed honey sticks from Dale at Marsden’s Pure Honey, aka the honey salesman with the hive hat.

Try a cocktail at Cask & Ale.
Peter surprises Rachel by taking her to Cask & Ale, the last bar he went to before heading to California to film The Bachelorette. He surprises her further by inviting his close friends to enjoy a few rounds of beverages near the end of the couple’s time in the city. Peter did ask for some alone time with his male friends, leaving Rachel to get to know his female friends a little bit better. In your re-creation of the hometown date, I would recommend not leaving your date to discuss her mere feet away.

Beyond the episode.
If you want to continue showing off the parts of Madison that Peter has previously shown on television, you can grab a box of chocolate from Gail Ambrosius Chocolatier on the east side. Or, if you want your shot at meeting Peter himself, you can always sign up for a class at Kamps Fitness Madison where he instructs High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) classes on a regular basis.
