Book nerds, unite! Madison Public Library’s Wisconsin Book Festival, now in its 15th year, returns November 2-5. This year’s schedule was announced on Friday.
Many events revolve around politics and pop culture, and a number of sessions have a tie to Wisconsin.
Eau Claire’s Nickolas Butler will read from his most recent novel, The Hearts of Men, on Saturday, Nov. 4 at Central Library. Butler is best known for his debut novel, Shotgun Lovesongs, which earned him accolades such as the Midwest Booksellers Award, the Great Lakes, Great Reads Award and France’s Prix PAGE/America.
Amy Goldstein is a Pulitzer Prize-winning staff writer for The Washington Post and lives in Washington, D.C. She relocated to Janesville in order to have a firsthand view of the impact General Motors had on the city when the plant closed in 2008. Goldstein will discuss her research on Saturday, Nov. 4 at Central Library in an event presented in tandem with the Wisconsin Humanities Council.
New York Times best-selling author Michael Perry will teach a bit of philosophy as he presents a reading from his most recent book, Montaigne in Barn Boots, at Central Library on Sunday, Nov. 5. Perry grew up on New Auburn and now lives with his family in a rural community in the state where he volunteers with the local fire and rescue service. You can catch Perry on the nationally-syndicated “Tent Show Radio” which airs here Saturday nights at 7 p.m. via WHA-AM 970 AM.
Prepare yourself for the Festival by reviewing the entire event schedule and by purchasing copies of the books you hope to get autographed.
