Aziz Ansari is clearly enjoying his time in Madison. In fact, it seems like he doesn’t want to leave.
The comedian will perform at the Orpheum Theater on Tuesday night, it was announced today. The show will follow a series of quickly sold out pop-up shows Sunday and Monday nights at Comedy on State. Attendees will likely get a sneak peek at jokes from Ansari’s inevitable next stand-up special. He’s in town to work out new material, if the event titles “Aziz Ansari – Working Out New Material!” are any indication.
Known to most as Tom Haverford on Parks and Recreation, the generally exuberant Ansari has laid low since January after a Babe.net article accused him of inappropriate sexual behavior. In a statement, Ansari said he “took her words to heart” and “responded privately.”
A lot of men will read that post about Aziz Ansari and see an everyday, reasonable sexual interaction. But part of what women are saying right now is that what the culture considers “normal” sexual encounters are not working for us, and oftentimes harmful.

Ansari currently stars on Netflix’s Master of None, which he co-created with Alan Yang. He recently took home a Golden Globe for his portrayal of struggling Indian-American actor Dev Shah. He’s also won two Emmys for his work as a writer on the show (shared with Yang and Lena Waithe, respectively). Though Master of None is currently on hiatus, Netflix says it’s willing to make a third season “when Aziz is ready.”
Tickets for the Orpheum went on sale at noon today.
