After more than a year, the wait finally is over.
Hamilton will duel its way into your heart (if it somehow hasn’t already) from Nov. 19 to Dec. 8, the Overture Center said Monday. It had been announced last year that the Tony-winning smash hit musical about the $10 bill guy was slated for sometime in 2019 or 2020.
Tickets aren’t on sale yet — and unless you bought a season subscription last January, you’re going to be pushing against the tide on this one. New Broadway subscriptions are “very limited,” though Overture officials insist that single tickets will be available for every Hamilton show.
The upcoming Broadway season will also include Wicked, The Book of Mormon and The Color Purple, among others such as The SpongeBob Musical, which sounds like a decent Hamilton consolation prize.
Monday’s news couldn’t have come at a better time for Overture’s administration, which had a pretty rough week leading up to the opening of the controversial musical Miss Saigon. Nothing puts a band-aid on public opinion like Lin-Manuel Miranda.
