The year is 2004. George Walker Bush is president of the United States, a little website called TheFacebook launches out of a Harvard dorm room, and one of the most beloved sitcoms of all time airs its final episode (I’m talking Friends, not The Drew Carey Show). Meanwhile, five dudes from Issaquah, Washington release a single called “Float On,” with no clue that they’re about to become some of the unlikeliest rock stars in the history of modern music.
Now a household name, Modest Mouse will be performing at Breese Stevens Field on Saturday, Sept. 30, promoters announced this morning.
Formed by Isaac Brock, Jeremiah Green and Eric Judy in 1993, the indie rock pioneers have one platinum album and two gold albums to their credit. The band’s most recent record, 2015’s Strangers to Ourselves, was its first full-length in almost a decade.
Support for the show comes from Gogol Bordello, an award-winning gypsy punk crew who count Madonna among their biggest fans. (Frontman Eugene Hutz starred in Filth and Wisdom, a 2008 film directed and co-written by Madonna.) Tickets go on sale Friday, May 12, ranging from $45 for general admission to $225 for VIP treatment. If you go for the VIP, be sure to use your powers for good and whisper into Isaac Brock’s ear to play “Trailer Trash” for me.
