Convenient rail travel has long been a far-off dream for many Madisonians, kinda like getting wasted at Taco Bell. And thanks to a Reddit-using Canadian visionary, the dream just became a lot more fevered.
Posted by u/1map_dude1, this mock-up of a subway system in Madison has an interesting twist: Each stop is actually a Subway restaurant somewhere in the city. Despite the absurd concept, it’s a fairly reasonable looking rail system, sporting five different lines with intermittent stops and end points in Cottage Grove, DeForest, McFarland, Middleton, Sun Prairie and Verona.
The map appeared on the, ahem, subreddit r/subwaysubway — which is exactly what it sounds like: rail systems built around Subway locations — before being cross-posted to r/madison. And if the comments are any indication, the people seem to like it.
“Yo this station map is actually pretty legit,” said u/dirk-nipples.
Meanwhile, u/dispass suggested: “Please run for governor.” (u/1map_dude1, however, claims to be a Canuck).
Rail transit is a frequent topic in the Madison subreddit. Currently, another top post is a hastily made system map linking Madison to Milwaukee and Chicago that could be ours if we had a competent “govenor.” Maybe we should work on our education system before moving on to transportation.
