Alynda Segarra and Katie Crutchfield have both paid their dues. Prior to embarking on a music career as Hurray for the Riff Raff, Segarra spent her teenage years crisscrossing the United States on freight trains. Crutchfield, meanwhile, cut her teeth playing in Alabama pop punks P.S. Eliot before going solo as Waxahatchee.
Now, Segarra and Crutchfield are two of indie rock’s leading lights — prodigiously talented songwriters racking up critical acclaim left and right. Hurray for the Riff Raff and Waxahatchee most recently released albums — The Navigator and Out in the Storm, respectively — in 2017.
