Though in general terms Overcoats is indeed an electronic band, there’s a lot more going on under the surface. The duo of Hana Elion and JJ Mitchell has a diverse range of influences, much of which comes from their respective transcontinental upbringings (Elion in Jamaica, Uganda and Belize, and Mitchell in England, Egypt and New York). Musically, Overcoats combines elements of folk and indie rock into their electropop, creating a playfully experimental aesthetic. Their debut album, YOUNG, was released in 2017.
Joining them at the Shitty Barn in Spring Green on Thursday, June 14 will be another duo, Madison favorites Seasaw. The indie pop act comprised of Meg Golz and Eve Wilczewski is in the middle of a very busy June, playing 10 shows around the Midwest. They released Too Much of a Good Thing in 2016.
