{"id":11488,"date":"2018-11-15T12:43:02","date_gmt":"2018-11-15T18:43:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thebozho.com\/?p=11488"},"modified":"2020-01-08T12:52:53","modified_gmt":"2020-01-08T18:52:53","slug":"disq-new-video-communication","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thebozho.com\/disq-new-video-communication\/","title":{"rendered":"Watch the video for Disq&#8217;s new song, &#8220;Communication&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Local wunderkinds Disq are back with a brand new video for their song \u201cCommunication,\u201d which premiered Thursday at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stereogum.com\/2021856\/disq-communication\/video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stereogum<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Put together by Frances Lea Tyska and Stella Maris Bock, the video depicts several very cool looking couples tied together by shots of Disq\u2019s teenage braintrust \u2014 Isaac de Broux-Slone and Raina Bock \u2014 talking on vintage telephones. And though it has a very DIY-vibe (a good chunk of the clip features found footage and stark shots of the Madison area), there are some truly breathtaking aerial shots in there. It\u2019s a good thesis on Disq, a band that\u2019s notable for their ability to disguise sophistication is lo-fi shambling.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Disq - Communication\" width=\"689\" height=\"388\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vU7XcDX7iI0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Speaking of, the song marks new territory for Disq. Musical schizophrenia isn\u2019t uncommon among young bands, and Disq did flirt with psychedelics on some of their earlier work. Here, that pretense is dropped in favor of reverb-drenched powerpop. In a perfect world, this is what Weezer should have sounded like after <em>Pinkerton<\/em>. However, it\u2019s what Disq sounds like now, and we\u2019re all the better for it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCommunication\u201d is out now <a href=\"https:\/\/saddlecreek.lnk.to\/Disq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">digitally<\/a>, with a 7\u201d coming soon via Saddle Creek Records.
