It&#8217;s Andy Daly calling."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The worst thing about election cycles \u2014 well, it all sucks, but this part sucks especially hard \u2014 is the phone calls.<\/p>\n<p>We are very much a texting society. For me, getting a live phone call is akin to my dentist telling me I need a root canal. (Though I haven\u2019t been to the dentist in several years, so that wouldn\u2019t be <em>all<\/em> she tells me.) And talking on the phone with strangers about politics, especially politics you may not agree with, is even harder. So you\u2019d think it would get a little easier when the voice on the end of the line is that of, say, a well-liked comedy actor.<span class=\"\" style=\"display:block;clear:both;height: 0px;padding-top: 5px;border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;\"><\/span>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Review - Addiction\" width=\"689\" height=\"388\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/T2dSE6_utcE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<span class=\"\" style=\"display:block;clear:both;height: 0px;padding-top: 10px;border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;\"><\/span>The actor in question here is the always cheery Andy Daly, best known for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=T2dSE6_utcE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Review<\/em><\/a>, <em>Eastbound and Down<\/em>, and dozens of voiceover roles. Last week <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TVsAndyDaly\/status\/1286449859122225152\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">he phone-banked for Wisconsin Democrats<\/a>, according to his Twitter account. But why would the New Jersey native choose us?<\/p>\n<p>Well, the 49-year-old comic says he asked his kids which <a href=\"https:\/\/votesaveamerica.com\/states\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">swing state to \u201cadopt\u201d<\/a> (as part of a campaign by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebozho.com\/pod-save-america-record-live-capitol-theater\/\">Crooked Media<\/a>\u2019s Vote Save America) and they <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TVsAndyDaly\/status\/1286494737411616768?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">liked the way \u201cWisconsin\u201d sounded<\/a>. I agree, it\u2019s very fun to say \u2014 and it turns out Daly has actually been helping out the state Democratic party <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TVsAndyDaly\/status\/1265687203117555713\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">for a few months now<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>ANYWAY, Daly tweeted out some of his interactions with voters, and it\u2019s as much a microcosm of the Badger State as you\u2019d expect.<span class=\"\" style=\"display:block;clear:both;height: 0px;padding-top: 5px;border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;\"><\/span>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet tw-align-center\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">First call. Me: &#8220;I&#8217;m calling from Wisconsin Democrats to talk to people about the issues they care about most.&#8221; Him (pissy): &#8220;Y&#8217;know what I care about? You people not calling me all the time. Take me off your list.&#8221; That&#8217;s the worst that can happen &amp; it wasn&#8217;t that bad. (Interesting? Yes. Terrifying? Also yes.)<span class=\"\" style=\"display:block;clear:both;height: 0px;padding-top: 5px;border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;\"><\/span>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet tw-align-center\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">it&#8217;ll be interesting to watch the debates and see both men side by side &amp; determine for ourselves how mentally &#8220;with it&#8221; they are. He&#8217;s seen vids on Facebook that make Biden look out of it. I explained that they certainly exist with Trump and he was quiet. Oh well. Given that we\u2019re now under 100 days until the election, something tells me this won\u2019t be the last time Wisconsin voters will hear <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qDr9axb7X7E\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Krombopulous Michael\u2019s voice<\/a> on the other end of the phone. To paraphrase that character: Andy Daly will call anyone, anywhere. Children, animals, old people\u2026 doesn\u2019t matter.
