But thanks to an unfortunate gaffe, the jury is out on what school they actually graduated from.<\/p>\n<p>The diplomas handed out to at least 400 of the 500 graduates of the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District featured a drawing of Middleton High School that was <em>most definitely not<\/em> Middleton High School. Or a school anywhere in Wisconsin or even the Midwest for that matter. Instead, <a href=\"http:\/\/host.madison.com\/wsj\/news\/local\/education\/middleton-high-school-diplomas-include-drawing-of-school-with-mountains\/article_95f3701f-a52c-51a5-ae40-bf0dfadb4683.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">it featured a still-unknown school<\/a> that\u2019s backed by a rugged mountain range.<\/p>\n<p>In a message to parents, school spokesman Perry Hibner blamed the mistake on Jostens, the Minnesota-based company that produces diplomas, yearbooks and other things of that sort that are currently collecting dust in your childhood bedroom.<\/p>\n<p>Hibner said the mistake went unnoticed due to the school\u2019s policy of not opening the boxes of diplomas up until graduation day, a practice they\u2019re now going to change. He said Jostens will also cover the replacement costs on the erroneous diplomas. Jostens has not yet responded to a\u00a0<em>Wisconsin State Journal<\/em> request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, the 100 or so students who received diplomas picturing the real Middleton High School were given leftovers from last year\u2019s commencement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With Sunday\u2019s graduation, students at Middleton High School took their first tentative steps into the real world.
