Seven dogs have traveled a long, long way in hopes of finding their forever home here in Wisconsin. Named “The Lucky 7,” this is the second batch of dogs that Madison-based nonprofit Underdog Pet Rescue of Wisconsin has brought here from China.
Underdog Pet Rescue has partnered with the UW Shelter Medicine Department in the veterinary school as well as a shelter in China to help give these dogs a new leash on life (I get one pun, OK?). They’re comprised of one adult and six puppies whose mother was rescued from a meat market.
On April 23, the first group of dogs made their journey from China to Wisconsin through this partnership. Because of them, all 13 in that group have found happy homes, far away from the desolation that awaited them in their previous lives.
Want to meet “The Lucky 7”? Of course you do — just look at those little faces below. Underdog Pet Rescue is holding a meet and greet with these pups on Sunday, June 3 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at their office at 231 S. Fair Oaks Ave.
If you’re not quite ready to bring a dog into your life right now, check back later at Underdog’s website, as the foster-based rescue is always bringing in new dogs, cats and other pets looking for their oppawtunity at a better life (I lied, I gave myself another pun).
