Much like Ed Rooney and Ferris Bueller, the City of Madison is doing its best to ruin Prof’s “day off,” albeit unintentionally.
Following his show this Friday at the Majestic Theatre, the cheeky Minneapolis rapper has what sounds like a fun little Saturday planned, which was set to include ice skating at Tenney Park from 3 to 5 p.m. However, the City of Madison announced Wednesday that, actually, our skating rinks and lagoons have closed for the season, just three days out from the event.
A lesser man would cancel, but not Prof. According to a member of his team, the 33-year-old will still be at Tenney Park during that time “playing flag football giving high-fives.” There will also be cocoa on hand because even though the rink’s closed, it’s still February in Wisconsin and the weather is still bullshit.
Prof will be hitting up myriad bars, record and skate shops, and restaurants throughout the rest of the day, which he’ll be announcing in real time via his social media. So even if you can’t make it out to Tenney, you still have a good chance of catching the rapper downtown at some point.
As for the concert on Friday night, Prof will headline a bill that includes Dwynell Roland, Cashinova, Willie Wonka and former Madison resident CRASHprez.
Prof released Liability, his debut for influential hip-hop label Rhymesayers, in 2015. His fifth LP, Pookie Baby, is slated to drop April 13.
