Between Wilco, the Avett Brothers and Jason Isbell, Breese Stevens Field has a shown a knack for booking the heavy-hitters of modern Americana. But now the outdoor venue is going for the O.G. Mack of them all, as organizers announced this morning that Ryan Adams will take the stage there on Sept. 29.
Practically the face of alternative country, Adams is in the third decade of his career, though his body of work indicates several decades more. The prolific singer and songwriter has released a staggering 19 studio albums — three with his former band Whiskeytown and 16 of his own, including a full reimagining of Taylor Swift’s 1989. Adams’ most release is this year’s Prisoner, which this Big Time Professional Writer™ happens to think is his best since 2007’s Easy Tiger.
Joining him at Breese Stevens will be 13-time Grammy winner and Country Music Hall of Famer Emmylou Harris, an iconic performer who’s known as much for her collaborations with the likes of Gram Parsons, Neil Young, Johnny Cash and countless others as she is for her tireless social activism. Her previously announced Sept. 29 concert at the Capitol Theater has been canceled.
Tickets for the Breese show go on sale this Thursday, July 20 at 10 a.m. Prices range from $25 Patterson’s Porch spots up to $225 for VIPs. Hopefully that includes Big Time Professional Writers™.
